Indraxi Kanjilal now leads Dangal TV’s Sohni – Aur Nahi Koi Honi as Sohni, a bespectacled heroine judged on her looks. The Kolkata actress spent nearly four years as Prarthana in Sony SAB’s Pushpa Impossible. She quit that role in November 2025.
Pushpa Impossible was her first Hindi show and the first television audition she ever gave. She described herself as 21 in interviews through 2025.

Who is Indraxi Kanjilal?
Indraxi Kanjilal is a young Hindi TV actress who moved from a long supporting run to her first lead in 2026. She was living in Kolkata when she auditioned for Pushpa Impossible online. She remade her audition video more than 90 times before landing the role, she told The Times of India in 2023.
“I still remember my mother holding the camera for me patiently while I gave the audition,” she said. She credited the show’s producer, whom she calls “JD sir”, with watching every video and pointing out what to change.

The Times of India also lists Wagle Ki Duniya among her shows, though she has called Pushpa Impossible the first Hindi show of her life.
Pushpa Impossible and why she left
In Pushpa Impossible she played Prarthana, the daughter-in-law of the title character, Pushpa (Karuna Pandey). Over the show’s run the character moved from a soft-spoken, naive girl to someone who speaks her mind. Her storylines included a miscarriage, she told The Times of India in 2024. She said she began not knowing what a two-shot was.
She left in November 2025, after almost four years and roughly 1,000 episodes. Her reasons were blunt. “My acting skills were not utilized enough, and I wasn’t given many tracks either,” she told The Times of India. “When you’re just standing like a mannequin in the background, it doesn’t really make sense.” She added that her wages were not up to the mark.
A planned time leap sealed it. Asked whether she would continue, she declined to play a woman of 30 or 31 at 21, especially as she was not the lead. She said she would miss her small makeup room most, the place where she practised lines and made reels, and that leaving a daily show felt risky because actors are “more like freelancers”.
The show went on without the character. In February 2026 viewers on Reddit reported that Prarthana had been killed off, and one fan wrote:
“I can’t believe it, they killed Prathana. She was literally a main character and they killed her. She was one of my favorite characters… This is an unfair decision by the makers and I’m gonna miss her character.”

Sohni – Aur Nahi Koi Honi
Her next show gave her the lead. Sohni – Aur Nahi Koi Honi is a Dangal TV drama set in Punjab and produced by DJ’s A Creative Unit, the banner behind Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. It pairs her with Summit Bhardwaj as Kabir, a wealthy, flamboyant man. Their first meeting comes from a misunderstanding.
IWMBuzz reported in September 2026 that Anupamaa actress Ekta Saraiya Mehta would play the lead’s mother, and that Ami Joshi would take the parallel lead in her first negative role. By late October the show was on air, with IWMBuzz writing that Summit was “capturing hearts on television” as Kabir.
Viewers quickly compared Sohni’s look to Jassi’s. Indraxi told IWMBuzz that she was “a huge fan” of that show as a little girl and that the look pays tribute to it, but added, “I wouldn’t call it a modern remake.” She called her four years on Pushpa Impossible “my training ground”, and described Sohni as deeply positive, vulnerable and somewhat underconfident.
On beauty standards and TV heroines
The role matches views she had voiced before getting it. In July 2025 she told IWMBuzz that TV female leads had become interchangeable, split between mythology, “the horror or supernatural genre with daayans and such”, and romance sold as “woman empowerment” that, in her words, is not real empowerment.
A month earlier she told The Times of India that the industry measures success by visibility and follower counts more than by acting depth.
Sohni, she said in October 2026, “challenges the usual idea of what a heroine is expected to look like. She is simple, wears thick glasses and is often judged by people around her, but she never allows that to affect her positivity or self-belief.” What she loves most, she added, is that the character’s intelligence, kindness and self-respect are her real strengths.

Age and family
Indraxi has not given a birth date in the interviews cited here. She told The Times of India in February 2025 that she was “just 21” and wanted to focus on work, and repeated the age when she left Pushpa Impossible that November.
Her family is in Kolkata. She bought her first car in Mumbai in 2025. Her father told her, “You got your first car at 21; I got mine in my 30s,” she recalled, and she hoped he would come down from Kolkata for a drive. She has said her parents’ marriage is the example she hopes to follow, and named her maternal grandmother, who refused to marry until she had finished her studies and kept working afterwards, as the woman who inspires her most.
In June 2026 she spoke publicly after the death of her close friend, the actress Sanchita Ugale.
