Introduction

“Kannappa” is an Up-coming Indian Telugu-language Mythological Drama film which is produced by Mohan Babu & directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. This film is based on the legend of Kannappa, a devotee of the Hindu Lord Shiva (also known as Mahadeva). Hindi film industry super-star Akshay Kumar makes his debut in the famous Telugu Film Industry with a cameo appearances as “Lord Shiva” in this film.

This film was officially launched after performing a puja ceremony at the famous Srikalahasteeswara temple located in Srikalahasti a small town in Tirupati district located in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The makers of this film finalised Mukesh Kumar Singh as the director, who had directed several mythological television series previously.

Initially, gorgeous Indian actress ‘Nupur Sanon’ was finalised and confirmed in the leading female role, but the actress opted out from the film in September 2023 due to scheduling conflicts. In the same month, the makers also confirmed that super-star ‘Prabhas’ will also be the part of their project and he will be seen in a special appearance role as “Lord Rudra”.

Veteran actor ‘Mohanlal’ and gorgeous actress ‘Nayanthara’ were also confirmed to be the part of this mega project in September 2023. Nayanthara was in talks with the makers to play the role of ‘Goddess Parvathi’, but the talks did not materialise and her role was later on offered to “Kajal Aggarwal” who will now be seen in a special appearance role as “Goddess Parvati”.

“Kannappa” which is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh will be released in the theatre across India on April 25th, 2025 in Telugu and dubbed versions of Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and English languages. The music of this film is composed by ‘Stephen Devassy’ and the lyrics are written by Suddala Ashok Teja, Ramajogayya Sastry, and Bhaskarabhatla. It is reported that the viewers are excited and have a lot of expectations from this film.
