The reports said…. 

Actress Riddhi Kumar of ‘Lovely’ fame will be seen as an archer in ‘Radhe Shyam’. As Tara, she will be traveling with Prabhas’ character. IndiaGlitz spoke to the budding actress about working with the pan-India superstar.

“He is called Darling because he is so sweet, humble. He is really such a darling. When I met him for the first time, he didn’t know that I am the one playing Tara. After coming to know of it, he told me Tara is a beautiful character and asked me to play to my best abilities. His words motivated me to work better,” the actress says.

“Prabhas sir is highly professional. He knows his lines by heart. I never saw him with the script in his hand. It comes with experience, you know. You know your lines, how you will look in the final edit. He switches to his character in no time. Immediately after giving a take, he gets chatty with others sometimes. And gets back to giving another take in a snap,” Riddhi adds.

About her character in the March 11th release, Riddhi says, “The character is sports-driven. I don’t do sports. I don’t like to play sports much. I am sort of laidback. Riddhi Kumar made her debut with “Lover” and acted in several languages along with web series. She is seen in Prabhas’s upcoming film “Radhe Shyam”. Here are some excerpts from her media interaction about “Radhe Shyam” which is slated to hit the screens worldwide on March 11.

I am attracted to films and the glamour world right from my childhood. I started understanding the craft and art as I grew up. I now know why I want to be in films after all these years.

I studied BA in Philosophy at a college in Pune. My father is an army officer. I was brought up all over the country.

I always wanted to try different things. I worked as a beautician, tutor, dance teacher, event manager. I started modelling when I was 16. As I continued in this field, I started to understand this is what I wanted. 

My role in the film “Radhe Shyam” is the trigger point. I can’t reveal much about it. She is a fierce, independent character and every woman would be proud to watch. I played as an archer. 

“Radhe Shyam” is mainly a love story. Prabhas sir’s character is a palmist who makes a prediction about my character. I played a role that makes everyone understand his powers in the film. That’s all I can say now at this stage.

I am not usually into sports that much. But, I had to learn archery for this movie. It was very tough. I started playing sports for this role.

UV Creations is an incredible production house. I never had to ask for anything. I never had any complaints. It is very disciplined and they are always time calculated.

I am very fortunate to work with Prabhas sir. Everyone in the industry calls him Darling. After meeting him, I understood why he is called a darling. He is the most humble star I ever met. He makes you feel at home.

We were shooting in Italy where I and Prabhas sir have a scene together. I was new to that kind of atmosphere. He came to me and told me to take my time before giving the shot. To be able to be yourself and portray your craft in your own way is what any artist wanted. He helped me to do that. He told me he liked my performance. That was an incredible moment and I started doing better since then. My scenes are only with Prabhas sir. With Pooja Hegde, I have got just a shot.

I have done three films before “Radhe Shyam” and worked in three web series. Amazon Prime series will be out in May. Currently, I am doing a film with Kajol mam. It is a film under Revathi ma’am direction. I am playing a daughter in it.

In the current generation, Prabhas sir is the biggest star in every language. I learned from him how to stay humble. I got to chat with him about scenes, food, and Italian Pizza.

Director Radha Krishna Kumar sir wanted to tell this story as an out-of-the-world and surreal visual experience. The way he narrated it in a realistic and relatable manner is genius.

As I played the role of a sportswoman, I have to maintain strength and stamina throughout the shoot. I am not so nervous, as it is Prabhas garu and UV Creations film. I am genuinely excited to see how it will turn out. I am a little nervous about how people are going to receive my performance.

When I told my mom about this film, she was really surprised that I had bagged a Prabhas movie. She came on set the next day and felt very happy. My parents are proud of me but they always want me to be as grounded as I can. They are also very excited.  

Along with Prabhas garu, I wanted to work more. There are incredible actors, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Vijay Deverakonda and so many.

I want to do more and more films with all of them. I love characters that have a graph of self-actualisation and also love to do fun characters. I also want to play a detective/cop.

While getting candid about her bond with the team, Riddhi talked about her co-actor Vipul Gupta, and how he was a constant guide and support for her throughout this journey. She expressed, “I think Vipul just like his character is a very strong-willed, empathetic, and a soft person. In the series, he plays ACP Ashutosh, a mentor who is very calm and constantly works to improve himself and the people around him”. 

She added further… “Working with him was a wonderful experience because he is much more senior but he never made me feel like a subject of comparison. He was always there to teach and support us, we used to do our lines together before the scenes and have our lunch or dinner together whenever possible. He was available to discuss, share, and put his input into the scenes to create a better version”.

Adding to this she further shared her experience of working with Amazon miniTV and Friday Storytellers. 

“My experience with Friday Storytellers was amazing and so was with Amazon miniTV. Specifically when it came to promotional activities, getting affiliated with Amazon miniTV was great, as I liked the way they have taken up their promotional campaign, especially in terms of getting hacked. When it comes to Friday storytellers, I was looking forward to working with them”. 

Riddhi continued saying “As an actor, you always have a list of people you admire and want to collaborate with and they were definitely on my list. When I got to know that I had to audition for a show for them, I was very excited. They always come up with different types of content that are relatable, educational, and at the same time very inspiring. Our show talks about crime, ranging from teenage bullying, and drugs to terrorism and bank scams, along with our finale which is about national security”. she shared.
