The couple keep a low profile, so what is on record comes from his interviews and that one television appearance. Her age, profession and family background have not been reported in the coverage cited here.

Who is Shashwat Sachdev’s wife?

Shashwat Sachdev’s wife is Shruti Sachdev. He first named her in public in August 2019. His parents had flown from Jaipur to Mumbai to celebrate his National Award “with me and my wife Shruti”, he told the Times of India.

He spoke about her at more length on Shekhar Suman’s talk show Shekhar Tonite in 2026. They had known each other since childhood and almost grew up together, he said. “I fell in love with her before she fell in love with me, and I got married very early in life.” The Indian Express report on that interview refers to her as Magic.

He also described her role in his work. “She has a very sharp ear, and I take her critique on my music very seriously,” he said. He has not said when they married. No interview with her alone appears in the coverage cited here.

The 1BHK years in Mumbai

The couple moved to Mumbai in 2017, and he says the move cost her a great deal. “It would be unfair if I took all the credit,” he told Shekhar Suman, according to the Indian Express. “She has put in the same amount of hard work.”

Shruti filled in the domestic side on the Kapil Sharma episode. “When we moved to Mumbai, we were in a 1BHK, in which the H (hall) became a studio. So, only the bedroom was left,” she said, as reported by the Times of India.

That arrangement shaped a rule once they could afford a bigger home. “After some progress, when we bought a house, I told him, ‘That studio is your space; the house is mine,'” she recalled on the show.

The piano in the bedroom

The rule did not last long. He argued that he would have to rush to the studio every time a tune came to him, so she agreed to a piano in the living room. Then he asked what would happen if he thought of something at night.

She allowed a digital piano in the bedroom if he played it only with headphones. “The next day, when I came home, there were two speakers along with the piano in the bedroom as well,” she said. The tune, she added, had “just become an excuse now.”

His reply turned the story back toward her. “All of my music is for her. If I get a little distracted, I also dedicate some music to God; otherwise, it’s all for her,” he said on the show, as quoted by the Times of India and the Economic Times.

Family and early training in Jaipur

He credits his parents and sister as well. His mother, Dr Mani Sachdev, is a philosophy professor and singer, the Times of India reported in 2019. His father, Dr Sudhir Sachdev, was then pro-vice chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology in Jaipur.

His training began at three under Ustad Ramzan Khan, he told Shekhar Suman, and his parents wanted music to keep him disciplined. His sister learned alongside him until he was about 11 to 13. She then stopped, he said, so that their teacher’s limited time could go to him: “The credit should go to her sacrifice.”

Shashwat Sachdev’s career and Dhurandhar

He moved to Los Angeles in 2011 to work in music production, and there, he told the Times of India in 2019, he worked with composer Marc Shaiman. In 2016 he came back to test whether Mumbai had work for him. Rhea Kapoor heard his music and gave him Veere Di Wedding, though Phillauri reached cinemas first, in 2017, with Veere Di Wedding following in 2018. Then came Uri. His background score for Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike won the National Award, and he credited a team of about 150 people for it.

Dates from his interviews with the Times of India and the Indian Express.

The Times of India called 2025 his breakthrough year, with music for Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood and for Dhurandhar, and said the 2026 sequel, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, became an even bigger success. On the Kapil Sharma episode the host asked whether he regretted charging little, given reports that the film’s music earned Rs 350 crore. “No, no, this thought never crossed my mind,” he replied, Mirchi reported.

He also explained how the songs were built. Aditya Dhar writes the songs and their placement into the script itself, he said. For a composer, he called that “such a big blessing”. Listeners on Reddit tie his rise to that partnership, and one reply under a 910-upvote r/BollyBlindsNGossip post drew 262 upvotes:

“shashwat u gave us bangers in bads and dhurandhar.. and when some1 trusts u n makes u believe in urslf it is special .. Aditya dhar is a great director n luks like is a great mentor”

Not every listener is uncritical.

In an r/BollywoodMusic thread on his rise, a 23-upvote comment said other composers would face harsher criticism for sampling older songs:

“I’m really fan of shashwat’s original compositions but if there was any other music director instead of him people would troll him/her mercilessly for sampling and copying/remaking from old songs.”

Next on his list, according to the Times of India, are his first Telugu film, The Indian House, and his first Malayalam film, Operation Ganga.
