Vasudha Serial Cast: Priya Thakur, Full List and Changes

The Vasudha serial cast is led by Priya Thakur as Vasudha and Abhishek Sharrma as Devansh “Dev” Singh Chauhan. Parineeta Borthakur has played Chandrika Singh Chauhan since July 2025. The Zee TV show premiered on 16 September 2024 and passed 700 episodes in October 2026.

Chandrika was first played by Nausheen Ali Sardar, and since then the Vasudha serial cast has added Nishi Saxena, Parichay Sharma and other new faces, while the two leads have stayed in place from the first episode.

One name in the table has changed spelling since the launch: Filmibeat noted in July 2025 that the male lead now writes his name Abhishek Sharrma, formerly Abhishek Sharma, so both spellings appear in older coverage.

What Vasudha is about

Vasudha follows two very different women. Chandrika is a rigid and powerful businesswoman, and Vasudha is a cheerful young woman from a modest home who enters her household. IANS described the show before launch as a story about how their contrasting personalities collide, rather than a typical love story.

Priya Thakur prepared for the part by learning the Rajasthani dialect while the team shot in Udaipur, she told IANS in September 2024. She listed greetings such as “Khamma Ghani” and “Padharo Sa” among the phrases she picked up from local residents.

Arvind Babbal produces and directs the show. Wikipedia describes it as an official remake of the Telugu series Muddha Mandaram. The Marathi show Paaru, which is sometimes named as its source, is a separate remake of the same Telugu original.

Viewers on Reddit are split on Chandrika’s treatment of Vasudha, and much of the criticism targets the character rather than the actors:

Why did the Vasudha cast change?

The biggest change came in July 2025, when Nausheen Ali Sardar left the role of Chandrika and Parineeta Borthakur took over. The other changes were new characters added to the story, not replacements, according to IANS and Filmibeat reports from 2025 and 2026.

Nausheen had played Chandrika from the first episode until the switch was announced on 29 July 2025, when producer Arvind Babbal thanked her for bringing “grace and dignity” to the role, IANS reported. That report gave no reason for the exit.

Parineeta Borthakur admitted that joining a running show was hard. “Stepping into a character mid-way comes with its own set of challenges,” she told IANS, adding that she saw Chandrika as a woman “who places discipline above emotion”. At the time, the plot centered on Karishma, played by Pratiksha Rai, and Megha, played by Mandeep Kaur, plotting against Vasudha, Filmibeat reported.

Two new characters followed that change. Nishi Saxena, known from Anupamaa, the Star Plus drama in which Gaurav Khanna played Anuj Kapadia, joined as Nandini in October 2025. She told IANS on 30 October that her role was not the usual negative third angle. Parichay Sharma arrived as Samar in May 2026 and told Filmibeat that his brief was a character who is “arrogant and bratty” without being either a villain or a hero.

Where the story stands

The 2026 episodes split Dev and Vasudha up. In a Filmibeat interview on 31 January 2026, Abhishek Sharrma said “a reunion is definitely on the cards” but that the couple would face their toughest challenges first.

By March 2026 the friction had turned back to Chandrika, who kept Vasudha out of the Holi rituals as the eldest daughter-in-law before joining her for them, IWMBuzz reported on 5 March. At the 700-episode mark in October, Abhishek promised fans that “something beautiful” was coming for Dev and Vasu. He did not say what it was.

Those plot turns came during the show’s strongest ratings run, as Priya Thakur told Variety India on 26 May 2026 that the show had once been in 26th position and had then held No. 1 for three weeks in a row, ahead of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 and Anupamaa.

How many episodes and when it airs

Vasudha completed 700 episodes in early October 2026, IANS reported on 6 October, and the cast cut a cake on set to mark it, per Bollywood Hungama on 7 October. The show airs Monday to Friday on Zee TV, and Filmibeat gave its slot as 9:30 pm in May 2026.

Priya Thakur called the number “surreal” and recalled going to the audition thinking nothing would come of it. “That one decision has given me 700 episodes, countless memories, and so much love,” she said in the same IANS report.
