Virat Kohli’s net worth is estimated at ₹1,600 crore in the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026, which makes him the richest of the three cricketers on the list. That is about $167 million at the European Central Bank reference rate for 23 September 2026, the week the list came out.
Hurun’s figure estimates what his businesses, stakes and other assets are worth. It is not a declared bank balance. Other published numbers for him measure different things, which is why they rarely agree.
- Estimated net worth: ₹1,600 crore (M3M Hurun India Rich List 2026)
- In US dollars: about $167 million, converted at ₹95.74 to the dollar (ECB, 23 September 2026)
- IPL salary in 2026: ₹21 crore from Royal Challengers Bengaluru
- BCCI retainer, 2025-26: ₹3 crore in Grade B
- Age: 38, after his birthday on 5 November 2026
How much is Virat Kohli worth in 2026?
The Hurun India Rich List 2026 puts Virat Kohli’s wealth at ₹1,600 crore, Mint reported on 5 October 2026. This year the list named seven actors and cricketers, and Mint said the cricketers appear as a separate group for the first time.
Kohli leads that group.
Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni follow at ₹1,500 crore each, so only ₹100 crore separates the three cricketers. Actors on the same list sit far higher, from Hrithik Roshan at ₹2,500 crore to Shah Rukh Khan and family at ₹10,000 crore.
Birthday coverage in November used smaller numbers. An ET Sports feature published on his 38th birthday said media reports place his net worth between ₹1,050 crore and ₹1,115 crore, about ₹500 crore below Hurun, without naming a method or a valuation date.

For a dated wealth estimate, Hurun’s figure is the one to cite, since it comes from a named list with a publication date. ET Sports adds a caution of its own: the valuation of a company he holds a stake in does not turn directly into cash he can spend. None of the reports breaks his total down by business.
What cricket pays him now
His cricket income changed shape after he retired from T20 internationals and Test cricket. What remains is one-day internationals for India and the IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the only franchise he has played for.

| Income line | Amount | Source |
|---|---|---|
| BCCI central contract, 2025-26 | ₹3 crore a year (Grade B), plus match fees | Business Today, August 2026 |
| IPL salary, 2026 season | ₹21 crore (RCB retention) | Indian Express, May 2026 |
| IPL career earnings | about ₹230.2 crore, all with RCB | Fanatic Sports and Hurun India report, via Indian Express |
| Advance tax paid, 2023-24 | ₹66 crore | Fortune India, via The Hindu |
For the 2025-26 contract year, which ran from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, the BCCI dropped its A+ grade. Kohli and Rohit Sharma moved from A+ to Grade B, worth ₹3 crore a year, Business Today reported, after both stepped away from two formats.
Seven times that retainer now comes from the IPL alone. According to the Fanatic Sports and Hurun India report, his IPL career earnings reached about ₹230.2 crore. No player has earned more. Rohit Sharma is next at ₹227.2 crore and Dhoni third at ₹200.3 crore. His pay first jumped in 2011, when RCB retained him for ₹8.25 crore, Indian Express reported.
No verified figure exists for his monthly income or for what he charges per brand deal. Tax is the closest public number: Fortune India’s list of celebrity taxpayers recorded ₹66 crore in advance tax from him for 2023-24, The Hindu reported. That points to a large taxable income, but it is not a salary.
Businesses, stakes and homes
Mint lists Wrogn and one8 as brands he co-founded, along with the One8 Commune restaurants he co-owns, and says he reportedly holds stakes in Go Digit Insurance, Rage Coffee and Blue Tribe.
ET Sports fills in the deals behind those names. Puma signed him in 2017 on a reported ₹110 crore, eight-year contract. In 2025 he moved to an equity arrangement with Agilitas Sports, reportedly investing ₹40 crore for a 1.94 percent stake, with One8 at the center of it.

According to the same feature, he put about ₹2 crore into Go Digit in 2020, and the holding gained value after the insurer listed in 2024. Its list also includes investments in FC Goa and in Galactus Funware, the company behind Mobile Premier League.
Property is the most visible part of his wealth. Asianet Newsable, citing a Magicbricks report carried by The Indian Express, values his roughly 10,000 square foot bungalow in DLF City Phase 1, Gurugram, at around ₹80 crore. A Mumbai apartment reportedly worth ₹34 crore and a villa in Alibaug complete the list, and none of these values comes from Hurun.
Brand value is a different number
Two brand rankings in 2026 produced figures that are easy to mistake for net worth. Neither one measures wealth.
Fortune India-Interbrand’s first list of the most valuable celebrities put him at the top with ₹3,542 crore, ahead of Shah Rukh Khan at ₹3,017 crore, Fortune India reported in June 2026. Its method scores engagement, distinctiveness, coherence, affinity and trust, and it does not count money he owns.
Kroll’s Celebrity Brand Valuation for 2025, released in August 2026, placed him third at $158.4 million, or about ₹1,500 crore, behind Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh, Hindustan Times reported. A year earlier Kroll had him first at $231.1 million, according to ET Sports. Interbrand’s figure is more than double Kroll’s, which is a good reason to treat any brand value as a ranking signal and leave it out of a net worth answer.
Fans who follow these lists have noticed that the names barely change between studies, even when the order does. On a thread about the Kroll 2025 list, one reply summed it up:
“Ranveer, Virat, and SRK have consistently ranked in the top five across different brand valuation studies over the years.”
